Russia has Become a Country with the Cheapest Unlimited Internet
OREANDA-NEWS. Russia has moved even higher in the ranking of countries with the lowest cost of the mobile Internet, ranking fourth after Iran, Kazakhstan and Egypt, follows from the Content Review data.
The average price of 1 GB in Russia was 37.9 rubles, and the cost of unlimited tariffs was the lowest in the world. But operators still earn good money: such tariffs are more expensive than the minimum ones, teaching the subscribers to pay more and consume additional services, experts explain.
Content Review is a rating based on the average value of the cost of one gigabyte converted to rubles. In each of the countries, rates of up to four major operators were considered. This list has hardly changed since 2016 and includes the 50 largest countries in terms of GDP.
The study thus covered the tariff offers of 136 telecom operators. To calculate the cost of a gigabyte, tariffs and options were taken with the included traffic with a reference point of 10 gigabytes.
Tariffs with unlimited Internet, said Sergey Polovnikov, head of Content Review, operators launching worldwide. However, they are really available only in a few countries. These tariffs are used to increase the average revenue from each subscriber, since they are significantly more expensive than the basic offers.
