Roskomnadzor Advises Against Posting Russian Videos on YouTube
OREANDA-NEWS. As Roskomnadzor recommends on its website, domestic media should publish their videos on Internet platforms owned by Russian IT companies, and not on YouTube.
The agency notes that recently there have been more and more cases of the administration of the YouTube video hosting service using blocking, labeling, warning, consent and other restrictions with respect to materials from Russian media and journalists. Roskomnadzor experts believe that this is how "a purposeful policy of influencing foreign platforms on Russians' access to objective information" is manifested.
The Roskomnadzor report says that in order to maintain the possibility of reliable and quick access to content, Russian media and information resources are recommended to post video materials on the platforms of Russian Internet companies with developed distributed content delivery networks (CDN).
The agency notes that there are more convenient options for posting videos for Russian users. For example, the largest Russian social networks - VKontakte and Odnoklassniki - have advanced video publishing capabilities.
In addition, major media outlets are actively developing their own digital media platforms. Thus, VGTRK on November 2 launched "Look" - a convenient online service that combines a constantly updated catalog of information, entertainment and educational content, as well as live broadcast of most federal TV channels. The media platform is available as a website, as well as in applications for Android and iOS.
