OREANDA-NEWS. The Philippine authorities have tightened restrictive measures in the country due to the spread of the Indian strain of the coronavirus. This was stated by the press secretary of the President of the country Harry Roque, reports CNA.

Against the backdrop of rising incidences, millions of children aged 5 to 17 were again banned from walking and leaving their homes. The new restrictions were adopted two weeks after the removal of the previous ban on leaving the home for minors, which has been in effect in the Philippines since March 2020.

As part of new epidemiological measures for beauty salons and religious gatherings, the possible number of visitors has been reduced. The country also tightened border controls for arrivals from Malaysia and Thailand and completely banned entry from India, Pakistan and Indonesia.

Restrictive measures will affect the capital region of the Philippines, as well as four provinces. At the moment, the country's population is actively vaccinated against coronavirus.

Earlier, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) named the Indian strain of COVID-19 the most infectious respiratory disease known. “This is one of the most infectious respiratory viruses that we know about and that I have seen in my 20-year career,” said the director of the center. According to her, the virus has no incentive to cease its existence yet.
