OREANDA-NEWS. President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko said that relations with Russia are developing openly, in principle and honestly.
“We will catch up if there is something missed. Although, as we see today, we can hardly reproach ourselves with anything. Our relations - Belarus and Russia - are finally developing openly, fundamentally, honestly,” he said on Thursday at a meeting with the Chairman of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin. Lukashenka’s words are quoted by the BelTA agency.
The President also noted that "no latent currents are felt in relations between the two countries." “We are very happy about this. They say that something from the outside influenced us. But something always influences us from the outside, we influence someone. That’s not the point,” Lukashenka said. “The bottom line is that we understand that in this world it is necessary to preserve the civilization that has existed since ancient times and exists today in our common Fatherland. "
Lukashenko said that at the end of the month he plans to discuss current events and plans for the coming year with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
“We are constantly in contact, inform each other about the situation, plan our actions for the future. I think that at the end of the month we will once again check the cards - what is happening now - and determine our future for the coming year,” the Belarusian leader said ...
Lukashenka also said that negotiations are planned to be held soon at the level of the leaders of the post-Soviet states. He recalled that this year marks the 30th anniversary of the formation of the CIS, and the first meeting of the leaders of the countries in the history of this association took place on December 30, 1991 in Minsk.
