OREANDA-NEWS. The senior director for Russia of the National Security Council of the White House, the main adviser to the US president for Russia Fiona Hill will leave his post in August. This was announced in his Twitter journalist of the newspaper The New York Times, Peter Baker. "Fiona Hill worked in a turbulent period in the history of relations between the United States and Russia and will complete her work next week after the expected meeting between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin in Japanese Osaka on the margins of the G20 summit", he wrote.
Hill, according to the journalist, will be replaced by Tim Morrison, who began working for the National Security Council last year as an adviser on weapons of mass destruction and biological defense. “Trump hopes to change relations with Russia in order to pay more attention to arms control, including a possible treaty between the US, Russia and China, which would replace the INF Treaty (Treaty on the Elimination of Medium and Short Range Missiles)”, Baker explained.
Fiona Hill has worked as Special Assistant to the President of the United States for Russia since April 2017. Doctor of Philosophy at Harvard University, she devoted all her scientific activities to the study of the history of Russia and the USSR. In the late 80s she studied at the Moscow State Linguistic University named after Maurice Torez in Moscow. He is the author of many books about Russia. In 2013, she released the biography of Vladimir Putin "Mr. Putin: special agent in the Kremlin". From 2006 to 2009 she worked for American intelligence.
At the end of June last year, she came to Moscow as part of the delegation of Trump's adviser on national security, John Bolton. The delegation then met with Vladimir Putin, Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu, and Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov.
