OREANDA-NEWS. Telecommunications operator MTS and Huawei launched Russia's first 5g user network in Kronstadt, the company announced on August 29 during the St. Petersburg digital forum.

Precommercial the 5G network in Kronstadt, developed on the basis of eight base stations. Three more stations will be launched by the end of September.

At the first stage, socially significant objects can use the new technology. After that, the region will introduce innovations and services in various fields.

High speed and the ability to transmit large amounts of data without delay in the fifth generation networks are necessary for the development of innovative technologies such as smart cities, the Internet of things, unmanned transport, virtual reality and many others. The deployment of 5G networks is an important component of the national Digital economy project. ​
