Germany Responded to Russia against the Threat of Retaliatory Measures Due to the Infringement of the Media
OREANDA-NEWS. The German Foreign Ministry claims that the German Cabinet of Ministers did not influence Commerzbank in order to terminate relations with the Russia Today news agencies in Germany; threats of countermeasures by the Russian Foreign Ministry do not correspond to the essence of this situation.
As previously reported, on February 26, the German Commerzbank sent a written notification of the closure of the accounts of Russia Today news agencies in Germany and Ruptly, access to financial transactions will be terminated from May 31.
As the representative of the German Foreign Ministry Christopher Burger said at a briefing in Berlin, the German government did not exert any influence on Commerzbank in order to end business relations with RT, and they have no information from other business clients of RT. Thus, according to the representative of the German Foreign Ministry, the threats of the Russian side about tough retaliatory measures do not correspond to the essence of what happened. Christoph Burger added that Moscow "is not the first time trying to make Germany responsible for the often legal relationship between RT and its banks."
Earlier, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, said that Russia would be forced to take tough retaliatory measures against the German media in the Russian Federation if the FRG did not ensure the normal operation of the Russian media.
