OREANDA-NEWS. The Russian armed forces will be able to organize a lightning-fast capture of Kiev, without invading the territory of Ukraine to the last. The First Deputy Commander of the Special Operations Forces, General of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Serhiy Krivonos, spoke about this on the air of the Apostrophe channel.
According to him, the offensive will begin with the use of high-precision weapons from a long distance, after which the process of transferring troops will begin.
“Look how quickly they transferred their forward echelon, as far as Kazakhstan was concerned. Almost perfect as the military they did great. They train it, they know their maneuvers, they know that there are seven airfields around Kiev, where forward detachments in helicopters can be directly landed,” Krivonos said.
The general also noted that it is possible to fly from the border to the capital of Ukraine at a minimum altitude in 40 minutes, while air defense systems will not track the aircraft. In parallel, the military leader believes, other units will disable anti-aircraft missile systems located around Kiev, which is not so difficult to do.
"The people there are trained - do not underestimate the enemy in the war," summed up Krivonos.
The story of a possible “Russian invasion” of Ukraine has been actively promoted in the West since mid-autumn last year. The U.S. has consistently pointed to a supposed increase in Russian forces near the Ukrainian border, threatening Moscow with new sanctions if it escalates. At the same time, the Kremlin has more than once directly denied any plans to attack Ukraine, on the contrary, pointing to the possible preparation of a military operation in the Donbass by Kiev. Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky, in turn, also announced the aggravation of the situation around Ukraine.
