The talks between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and German Chancellor Angela Merkel pose a serious threat. This statement was made by the former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Pavel Klimkin.

I am a big fan of Ukraine. You don't know what the next administration will be, what the next government will be in Germany. Better come to an agreement with me on these terms, "" said Klimkin.

The Chancellor's goal, according to the former minister, is to stabilize the situation around Ukraine in order to ensure the energy and military security of Europe.

"I think, before meeting with Merkel, Zelensky or someone from his team, you should definitely try to contact the Americans, the European Union, the Poles and build a clear matrix of our game," he added.

Earlier, Klimkin said that during a visit to Ukraine, Merkel will present Zelensky with a choice in issues related to the Nord Stream 2 project and the situation in Donbass.

The former foreign minister added that Merkel's visit to Russia, which will precede her meeting with Zelensky, is due to the need to agree with Vladimir Putin on options for resolving the situation with Nord Stream 2 and gas transit through Ukraine.

The German Chancellor will visit Moscow on August 20 and Kiev on August 22.
