Fines of Up to $2.7 Thousand Dollars were Introduced in Russia for the Sale of Smartphones Without Domestic Apps
OREANDA-NEWS. The State Duma adopted a bill introducing fines of up to $2.7 thousand dollars (200 thousand rubles) for the sale of smartphones and computers without Russian applications. This is reported on the website of the lower house of Russian Parliament.
According to the amendments, officials will be fined in the amount of 30 to 50 thousand rubles, legal entities — in the amount of 50 to 200 thousand rubles. Changes will be made to Article 14.8 of the Administrative Code (violation of other consumer rights). Administrative cases will be considered by «Rospotrebnadzor».
In November 2019, the State Duma adopted a law on mandatory pre-installation of Russian software on smartphones, computers and Smart TVs. The changes were supposed to come into force on July 1, 2020, but the deputies postponed them until April 1, 2021.
In addition, in December 2020, the parliamentarians decided, that the pre-installed software can be produced not only in Russia, but also in Belarus, Kazakhstan, Armenia or Kyrgyzstan, the release says.
