Facebook Banned 530 Instagram Accounts for Campaign Against Navalny
OREANDA-NEWS. Facebook in February deleted 530 Instagram accounts, using hashtags and geotags in order to discredit the participants of the actions in support of the opposition leader Alexei Navalny. According to a Facebook report published on March 3, the deleted accounts were created primarily in Russia and are intended for a domestic audience.
The report says, that the people stand behind this activity used recently created fake accounts to post a large volume of irrelevant or critical content in order to drown out relevant information and to mislead.
They used such hashtags as #Putinuhodi, #23yanvarya, #svobodunavalny, as well as geotags of the places where the actions of Navalny's supporters are held. They were used to post memes in Russian, criticize the protesters and make statements about the large number of minors at the rallies.
Earlier it was reported, that the Amazon rainforest can be purchased on Facebook. Protected areas include national forests and lands assigned to indigenous peoples. Some of the plots illegally sold on Facebook are as large as 1,000 football fields.
