OREANDA-NEWS. The creator of the Telegram messenger Pavel Durov believes that the WhatsApp application has significant shortcomings in encryption, regardless of the device with which operating system the application is installed. Durov wrote about this in his Telegram channel.
"WhatsApp vulnerability exists on devices not only with the iOS operating system, but also on Android and even on Windows. That is, on all mobile devices where WhatsApp is installed. This vulnerability is not found in other instant messengers installed on iOS", said Durov.
The creator of Telegram also believes that significant flaws in WhatsApp encryption caused the leak of SMS correspondence of Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos and his mistress Lauren Sanchez. "Last week, it became clear that this vulnerability was used to extract private correspondence and photos of Jeff Bezos, the richest man on earth, who, unfortunately, relied on WhatsApp", added Durov. In his opinion, if the head of Amazon used Telegram, now he wouldn't be blackmailed by this correspondence.
Last March, Bezos-hired private consultant Gavin de Becker said his client’s phone was hacked by hackers working for the Saudi government.
