OREANDA-NEWS. US President Joe Biden, during his speech to the press, forgot to mention the tragic collapse of a multi-story building in Florida, where dozens of people may be under the rubble. The broadcast was conducted on the White House YouTube channel.

Trying to finish his speech, he told reporters that it was time for him to get into the helicopter. However, at that moment, Vice President Kamala Harris approached Biden, with whom he whispered a couple of phrases.

"Oh yes. I beg your pardon. Thank you, Madame Vice President," the American leader said, continuing his speech with a discussion of the situation in Florida.

He explained that he would send federal aid to the site, adding that he was awaiting an official request from State Governor Ron Desantis.

A multi-storey building partially collapsed in Surfside, part of Miami, Florida. About half of the 130 apartments located in it were destroyed. At least three people were killed, at least nine were injured. Now it is known about the rescue of about 40 residents. The Miami-Dade Police Department press office said the whereabouts of at least 99 people remain unknown.

Earlier on June 25, US President Joe Biden declared a state of emergency in Florida, where a rescue operation is underway in connection with the collapse of a multi-story building.
"The presidential decree empowers the Department of Homeland Security and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to coordinate all disaster relief efforts to alleviate the suffering of the local population in these conditions," the White House said in a statement.
