ОРЕАНДА-НОВОСТИ. NEC Corporation today announced the launch of a new "ProChemist/BM" chemical substance management solution and "Obbligato III" product lifecycle management (PLM) software supporting "chemSHERPA," a scheme that facilitates inter-company sharing of information on chemical substances in products (CiP).

chemSHERPA was developed under the leadership of the Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry as a common scheme for handling information across a supply chain, and is scheduled to enter full-scale operation starting in the 2016 fiscal year. Applicable to various products and industries, chemSHERPA allows organizations to handle CiP information under a shared policy.

The new ProChemist/BM and Obbligato III allow enterprises to manage and utilize "compliance assessment information" concerning the inclusion or non-inclusion of particular chemical substances and "composition information" concerning the types and amounts of chemical substances, both of which are required for reporting with the chemSHERPA scheme.

In addition, the new software is able to convert the format of existing data into the chemSHERPA format, or to use the conventional formats and chemSHERPA format at the same time, achieving efficient response to surveys on CiP information by regulators.

"Previously, enterprises had to deal with many different schemes in order to share CiP information. We believe compatibility with chemSHERPA, which can be used as a common scheme for handling information across a supply chain, will be a key differentiator for the new ProChemist/BM and Obbligato III," said Toshikazu Fukuoka, General Manager, Manufacturing and Process Industries Systems Development Division, NEC Corporation.
