Trimble Sells its Energy Transmission Solutions to GeoSpatial
OREANDA-NEWS. Trimble (NASDAQ: TRMB) announced today that it has sold its Trimble Energy Transmission Solutions (TETS) business to GeoSpatial Innovations, Inc. (GSI), a leading engineering software provider to electric and natural gas utilities in North America. TETS transmission and distribution software includes TL-Pro Design Studio for engineering overhead power line systems and Corridor Analyst for line routing. GSI intends to integrate the TETS solutions into its cloud-based and on-premises GSI AssetManager portfolio which improves productivity and safety for technical field workers engaged in electric and natural gas line design, asset inventory and inspection, storm damage assessment, and vegetation management. Financial terms of the sale were not disclosed.
"This transaction is an element of our continuing program to tighten our corporate focus," said Michael Lesyna, vice president, Strategy and Corporate Development for Trimble. "While Trimble remains actively engaged in the utility market, this divestiture enables the company to focus its resources in other aspects of the business."
"Trimble and GSI have partnered in the utility space since 2001 on significant solutions that impact how major utilities conduct field operations, so it made perfect sense for GSI to acquire and integrate the TETS business into our offerings," said Carl Livingood, president of GeoSpatial Innovations, Inc. "The TETS business is complementary to GSI's business, and as a result of this transaction, we will be able to enhance our solutions more quickly and economically."
GSI is a private, woman-owned software company headquartered in Washington, Pennsylvania with development offices in Austin, Texas and Liberty Lake, Washington. Since 1999, GSI has delivered engineering and mobile solutions to electric and natural gas utilities throughout North America. The GSI AssetManager suite improves productivity and safety for field workers engaged in gas and electric design and optimization, asset inventory and inspection, storm damage assessment, and vegetation management. With on-premises and cloud capabilities, GSI software allows utilities of all sizes—from major investor-owned utilities to rural cooperatives—to make significant improvements in their field workflow.
