Mark Zuckerberg to meet with conservative leaders about Trending Topics
OREANDA-NEWS. May 16, 2016. Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg will meet with a group of conservative leaders on Wednesday as part of an investigation into allegations the social network suppressed stories published by conservative news outlets.
The meeting at Facebook's Menlo Park, California, headquarters will include "about a dozen conservatives," a Facebook spokesman confirmed Sunday, including conservative talk-show host Glenn Beck. In a lengthy Facebook post on Saturday, Beck said he was trying to rearrange his schedule to be able to attend the meeting.
"It would be interesting to look him in the eye as he explains and a win for all voices if we can come to a place of real trust with this powerful tool," he wrote Saturday.
Other conservative voices invited to the meeting include Zac Moffatt, the co-founder of Targeted Victory, and Dana Perino, co-host of "The Five" on Fox News Channel, Facebook said.
Word of the meeting comes just days after Zuckerberg said there is "no evidence" that stories from conservative news outlets were deliberately suppressed from Facebook's Trending Topics feature by "news curators." He also said at that time that he would invite leading conservatives to discuss the issue.
