A case of illegal border crossing was opened against CNN journalist Walsh in the Russian Federation

OREANDA-NEWS The Federal Security Service of Russia announced the initiation of a case under the article on illegal crossing of the state border against CNN journalist Nick Peyton Walsh and a number of Ukrainian correspondents who filmed materials in the area of Sudzha in the Kursk region.
"Criminal cases have been initiated and are being investigated under Part 3 of Article 322 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation against American journalist Nick Peyton Walsh and Ukrainian correspondents Olesya Nikolaevna Borovik and Diana Vladimirovna Butsko, who illegally crossed the state border of the Russian Federation and carried out video filming in the area of the settlement of Sudzha in the Kursk region," the special service told Interfax.
The FSB added that in the near future the journalists will be put on the international wanted list.
The maximum sanction of the article on illegal crossing of the state border provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for up to five years.
Earlier, the FSB announced the initiation of a criminal case against Italian journalists Simoni Traini and Stefani Battistini, who worked in a court in the Kursk region after illegally crossing the state border. Later, the Russian Foreign Ministry protested to the Italian Ambassador in connection with these events.
At the same time, the special service reported that "a legal assessment is being carried out of materials distributed in the media indicating the presence of foreign correspondent Nick Peyton Walsh on the territory of the Russian Suja checkpoint."
Peyton Walsh last week filmed a report from Sudzha in the Kursk region at the time of the Ukrainian military's presence there.
At the moment, the counter-terrorism operation regime introduced by the decision of the Director of the FSB of the Russian Federation is in effect in the Kursk region.
