OREANDA-NEWS. Facebook head Mark Zuckerberg and his wife Priscilla Chan, together with the charity fund of Microsoft founder Bill Gates, plan to allocate 25 million US dollars to research drugs for treating coronavirus disease.

According to Chan, they will organize a test of effectiveness of drugs in the treatment of COVID-19.  Zuckerberg noted that it is necessary to find out whether this or that medicine, already recognized as safe, can prevent infection or alleviate the symptoms of the disease.

In late January, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation have already donated 10 million dollars to combat the spread of the new coronavirus. Half of the sum was allocated to fight the disease in China, and another 5 million dollars was sent to help the centers for disease control and prevention in Africa.
