OREANDA-NEWS. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has recalled the liberation of Kiev from the Nazis in 1943, accusing the Soviet leadership of cruelty and indifference.

"We will never forget at what price the Ukrainian capital was liberated from the Nazi invaders on 6 November 1943. The liberation of Kiev is a story of boundless indifference and cruelty of 'great' leaders and the boundless feat of the great fighters who liberated the city from the Nazis,"- Zelensky wrote in Telegram.

He noted that according to official figures, the battle for the Dnieper River counted 417,000 dead, while the battle for Kiev counted up to 240,000. The president noted that among the dead were many freedmen mobilized in Ukraine, who fought without uniforms, had no training and were poorly armed. In his words, they were sent "to certain death".

The Ukrainian president stressed that for a real state a human life represents the highest value, whereas for a "soulless machine" a person is "just fuel" and a resource.

Such a machine can overlook the deaths of half a million people, Zelensky added. "It is ready to easily pay such a terrible price, because there is a whim of the leadership - to liberate Kiev by the anniversary of the October Revolution,"- concluded the Ukrainian president.

In October, the National Security and Defence Council of Ukraine (NSDC) proposed to drop the term "Great Patriotic War", replacing it with the terms "World War II" and "Soviet-German War".

These changes were introduced in the dictionary of names and terms recommended for use "in connection with the occupation of Crimea and areas of Donbas". The term "Great Patriotic War" is now listed in the dictionary as "Fake".
