OREANDA-NEWS The Spanish retailer of clothing, footwear and accessories Inditex, which owns the brands Zara, Pull&Bear, Massimo Dutti, Bershka, Stradivarius and Oysho, announced its desire to return to Russia if the situation in the country changes. This is reported by the Financial Times.
"If the situation had changed, we could have resumed our activities with those stores that we transfer to the Daher Group. Of course, I don't think this will happen in the short term," said the company's head and CEO Oscar Garcia Maceiras.
At the same time, he noted that in case of returning to Russia, Inditex will work with the Lebanese company Daher Group, to which he sold part of the business in the country, as a franchisee.
In January, the opening dates of Zara stores in Russia under the new name Maag were also reported.
Inditex suspended the operation of all stores and online platforms in Russia on March 5 last year. Prior to that, 502 stores of the group operated in the country. The share of the Russian market reached about 8.5 percent of Inditex's global profit.
