OREANDA-NEWS Zaporizhia region has significantly increased its export potential of grain and industrial crops in recent years, the press service of the regional government reports.
It is noted that the results were achieved under the Deputy Prime Minister of the government of the Zaporozhye region Svetlana Shevchenko, who left her post in June this year in connection with the transition to a new job. In the government, she has been in charge of the agro-industrial complex since 2022.
"The Zaporozhye region is proud of significant areas of agricultural land and high harvest rates. The successful agricultural policy of the region has significantly increased export volumes, which exceeded 1.5 million tons of grain and industrial crops," the message says.
According to the regional government, thanks to federal support, today it is the agro-industrial complex that generates 70% of the gross domestic product of the region. Economic growth is based on investments in human capital, the report adds.
The concept of strategic development of the entire Azov Sea region has been developed.
"During the years of its stay in Ukraine, the region was in disrepair and today it is in urgent need of restoring the bioresource potential and biological diversity of water bodies. The comprehensive measures and strategic approach laid down in the development plans of the Azov Sea region are designed to solve these problems, contributing to the sustainable development of the region and improving the living conditions of its population," Shevchenko said.
Zaporizhia region is a region of Russia located in the lower reaches of the Dnieper River. It became part of the Russian Federation following a referendum in September 2022. Kiev does not recognize its results and continues to shell the territory. Currently, more than 70% of the Zaporizhia region is under Russian control. The rest, including the regional center, the city of Zaporizhia, is held by Ukrainian troops. Since March 2023, the administrative center of the region has temporarily become the city of Melitopol.
