Zakharova Called Ukraine a Colony of the West

OREFNDA-NEWS Ukraine lives off loans from the West and is actually its colony, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on her Telegram channel. According to her, from February 2014 to December 2021, the country was provided with about $70.5 billion from the EU, the USA, Germany and the UK, while from February to May 2022, the amount of funding for Ukraine by the West exceeded $15 billion.
“The position of a constantly credited party, to which Poroshenko and Zelensky condemned the state entrusted to them, not only made Ukraine dependent on the West, but turned it into a colony and mandated territory in every sense,” the diplomat wrote.
In addition, over the past three months, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has concluded loan agreements with the governments of the United States, Great Britain, Germany, Canada, France in the amount of about $2.5 billion. The World Bank announced the preparation of a new package of loan support for Ukraine in the amount of $3 billion. Council Charles Michel announced his readiness to transfer €9 billion of macro-financial assistance to Kyiv.
Earlier, US President Joe Biden informed the head of Ukrainian state Vladimir Zelensky about the provision of a new $800 million military aid package. According to the American leader, the Armed Forces of Ukraine will receive artillery, armored personnel carriers and helicopters, as well as other weapons. In turn, the EU Council agreed on the allocation of an additional €500 million for military assistance to Ukraine.
