OREANDA-NEWS. Accusations of the USSR in obtaining the “greatest benefit” from the outbreak of World War II demonstrate that official Warsaw “played up”.
This was stated by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, in an interview with the Russian television channel, commenting on the statement of the Polish ambassador to Germany, Andrzej Psilebski to the newspaper Märkische Oderzeitung. Zakharova emphasized that it was the Polish authorities, and not the Polish people, historians or experts who disseminate such information.
“About two or three weeks ago, we received information that the Polish pro-government structures, government bodies held a meeting on how to act to neutralize the materials, historical facts that Moscow will present”, Zakharova said, adding that Warsaw aims to prevent the spread of the truth about the events of those years.
She admitted that in the near future the public will hear many more such statements from Poland, however, according to her, Russia has something to answer. Earlier, the Polish ambassador to Germany Andrzej Psilebsky told the newspaper Märkische Oderzeitung that it was not the Soviet Union, but the Western allies that made a decisive contribution to the end of World War II. According to him, for Poland the war did not end in 1945, since until 1989 the country was under occupation by the USSR.
