OREANDA-NEWS. To date, there are no known effective therapeutic methods for treating the new type of coronavirus 2019-nCoV, the outbreak of which in China has led to the death of more than 40 people. This was declared by the Spokesman for the World Health Organization (WHO) Tarik Jasarevic.

The WHO reacted to the media reports about the discovery of drugs for pneumonia caused by new coronavirus infection. American and Chinese scientists reported of similar studies. Jasarevic said that organization recommends that all studies be conducted to verify the effectiveness and safety of the proposed medicines.

WHO Executive Director of Health Emergencies Programmme, Mike Ryan, confirmed that there are no proven effective therapeutic agents against the new coronavirus. He also explained that proper care can help people with illness. According to Ryan, even patients in serious condition will survive if they receive timely medical help.
