The outbreak of coronavirus of a new type began in China, other variants are excluded, despite the fact that cases of infection were registered in residents of other countries who did not travel to China. This was stated by the official representative of the World Health Organization (WHO), Christian Lindmeier on May 8.

According to him, all the evidence at the moment indicates that virus originated from the Wuhan region, namely from the employees of the market located there. Since currently there is no other evidence, it should be considered as the only version, Lindmeier explained.

At the same time, the WHO admits that coronavirus, prior to its official registration, could spread around the world undetected, if take into account the season of influenza outbreak.
