WHO Raises Global Risk Assessment of Coronavirus’ Spread to “Very High”
OREANDA-NEWS. The World Health Organization (WHO) has revised the risk assessment for the spread of COVID-19 from “high” to “very high.” This was stated by Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus at a press conference in Geneva.
According to him, the number of people infected with coronavirus outside of China reached 4351 in 49 countries, 67 of them died. “The continued increase in the number of cases, and the number of affected countries over the last few days, are clearly of concern. Our epidemiologists have been monitoring these developments continuously, and we have now increased our assessment of the risk of spread and the risk of impact of COVID-19 to very high at a global level,” Ghebreyesus said. He also noted that more than 20 vaccines are currently under development in the world, and several therapeutic agents are undergoing clinical tests.
A day before, WHO head warned that all countries should be ready for the spread of coronavirus, and now the organization is concerned about how COVID-19 spreads not in China, but in the rest of the world.
