OREANDA-NEWS The World Health Organization has confirmed the quality of the Russian Flu-M vaccine for the prevention of influenza, developed by specialists of the Federal Medical and Biological Agency, the press service of the FMBA of Russia reported.
"As part of the prequalification procedure, two independent laboratories of the World Health Organization (WHO) confirmed the high quality of the Flu-M vaccine developed by the St. Petersburg Research Institute of Vaccines and Serums (SPbNIIVS) of the FMBA of Russia and the full compliance of its parameters with international standards," the report says.
The assessment was carried out in accordance with WHO requirements for the influenza vaccine. The test results confirmed the acceptability of the seasonal flu vaccine, the press service noted.
"Our own technology for the production of vaccines from the strain to the finished product allows us to achieve high-quality purification of antigens, in which the content of ovalbumin (the main allergen of chicken eggs) is in the range of 1-2 ng per dose, which is a thousand times less than the permissible norms," said Veronika Skvortsova, head of the FMBA of Russia, whose words are quoted in the message.
