Warsaw Counts on a Meeting of the Foreign Ministers of Russian Federation and Poland in the Coming Days

OREANDA-NEWS. The Foreign Ministers of Russia and Poland may soon discuss the organization of commemorative events on the occasion of the upcoming anniversaries in Katyn and Smolensk on April 10. This was announced on Thursday at a briefing by the press secretary of the head of the Polish state Blazh Spychalski.
"Negotiations are ongoing. In the coming days, a meeting will be held between Polish Foreign Minister Jacek Chaputovic and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, during which they will talk about the possible organization of these events", he said. "This will be a meeting of the ministers of the Government of Poland and the Government of the Russian Federation".
“It’s important for the president that commemorative events on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the Katyn crime should be held with dignity”, Spykhalski said. “In a conversation with the prime minister, the president said he expects the Polish government to take steps to prepare these events, during which the Polish state will honor the victims of the Katyn tragedy".
On April 10, 2010, the official delegation of Poland, headed by the President of the Republic, Lech Kaczynski, flew to Katyn for commemorative events on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the tragedy.
