Uzbekistan increased the supply of fruits and vegetables to Russia by 26% in 2024

OREANDA-NEWS From the beginning of the year to May 19, Uzbekistan supplied about 156 thousand tons of fruit and vegetable products to the Russian Federation, which is 26% more than in the same period of 2023, the Rosselkhoznadzor reports following negotiations between the head of the service Sergey Dankvert and the general director of the Agency for Quarantine and Plant Protection of Uzbekistan Ibrohim Ergashev.
Thus, according to FGIS Argus, the supply of white cabbage this year increased fourfold - from 18 thousand to 72 thousand tons, fresh persimmon 6.2 times - from 233 tons to 1.5 thousand tons, cauliflower 2.2 times - from 2.6 thousand to 5.8 thousand tons, carrots 3.4 times - from 3.4 thousand to 11.5 thousand tons.
Shipments of fruit and vegetable products from Uzbekistan grow by 20-30% annually, its share in imports to the Russian Federation is 10%, the report says.
In May, an Uzbek delegation visited the Russian Federation, which in Moscow, Novosibirsk and Ufa got acquainted with the work of temporary storage warehouses, wholesale distribution centers, large retail chains and held talks with their management to increase the supply of Uzbek agricultural products.
According to the report, according to the heads of the supervisory authorities of both countries, the potential of mutual trade between the Russian Federation and Uzbekistan is much wider, and specific mechanisms for simplifying supply conditions and digitalizing supervisory activities can contribute to its implementation.
