OREANDA-NEWS The Uzbek authorities trust vaccines from Russia and are ready to purchase them further, in particular against influenza and SARS, first Deputy chairman of the Committee for Sanitary Epidemiological Welfare and Public Health (SES) of the country Nurmat Atabekov said in the Sputnik Uzbekistan press center.
"We usually buy the vaccine in the Russian Federation before the seasonal rise of influenza and SARS…We believe in the vaccines of the Russian Federation," Atabekov said during a press conference at the Sputnik Uzbekistan press center dedicated to Uzbek-Russian cooperation in sanitary and epidemiological welfare.
Atabekov recalled that vaccination against influenza and SARS in Uzbekistan is carried out one and a half to two months before the outbreak of the epidemic. "We can safely purchase vaccines based on epidemic indicators from the Russian Federation," he said.
The first deputy head of the SES recalled that during the coronavirus pandemic, the Uzbek authorities also purchased two types of vaccines – Sputnik V and Sputnik Lite. "Both vaccines have been successfully used," Atabekov added.
In October 2023, the Uzbek authorities purchased 2.1 million doses of the Russian vaccine "Grippol plus" for vaccination of "risk groups" - medical workers, teachers and school students and kindergarten students. According to the SES, the Russian vaccine has practically no side effects and contraindications, it will provide protection against all types of influenza virus, which are the most relevant in this epidemic season.
