OREANDA-NEWS  The United Shipbuilding Corporation (USC) plans to transfer seven nuclear icebreakers to customers by 2030, this will form the backbone of the icebreaking group of the Russian Federation, CEO of the corporation Andrey Puchkov said during the launching ceremony of the nuclear icebreaker Chukotka.

"In total, the United Shipbuilding Corporation plans to transfer seven nuclear icebreakers by 2030. This will make it possible to form the backbone of a high—tech icebreaking group," Puchkov said.

The icebreaker Chukotka is the fifth vessel (fourth serial) of the 22220 project, which was built at the Baltic Plant by order of the Rosatom State Corporation. The vessel was laid down on the slipway of the enterprise in December 2020.
