OREANDA-NEWS. US intelligence agencies believe that the coronavirus SARS-CoV-2, which causes COVID-19, was not created artificially. This is stated in a message released on April 30 by the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, the head of the US Intelligence Community, which includes 17 agencies, for instance, CIA, FBI, special units of the State Department and the Department of Energy.

“The Intelligence Community also concurs with the wide scientific consensus that the COVID-19 virus was not manmade or genetically modified,” the statement reads. It is added that American intelligence specialists will continue to carefully study the information they receive to determine what led to the start of the COVID-19 pandemic – contact of people with infected animals or an accident in a laboratory in the Chinese city of Wuhan.
