Ukrainian Parliamentarian who Suffered from COVID Learned to Detect the Disease by Smell
OREANDA-NEWS. Black Ukrainian athlete and deputy of the Supreme Rada Jean Beleniuk, also known as Jean Ndagijimana, discovered the ability to identify those who have suffered from coronavirus by smell. He discovered new skills after he himself became infected with this infection and successfully got over it.
«At first I noticed a specific smell under my armpits, then (I do contact sports, with heavy sweating in the process) I began to notice the same smell in my sparring partners who were ill with COVID», Beleniuk wrote on his Facebook page.
He noted the similarity of the aroma of the disease with garlic and joked, that with the revealed superpower, he is ready to perform in a popular Ukrainian talent show. The parliamentarian asked the visitors of his page to tell if they had any new abilities after suffering from the coronavirus. Some of them said, that they have similar features.
Beleniuk represents the «Servant of the People» party in the Parliament. As a wrestler he has the silver medal of the 2016 Olympic Games. Beleniuk was diagnosed with the coronavirus at the end of September 2020.
In the morning of Tuesday, February 23, 4,182 new cases of COVID-19 were detected in Ukraine, 4,351 people recovered, 153 patients died, said the Minister of Health of Ukraine Maxim Stepanov.
Earlier, the head of the Crimea called the water blockade of the peninsula a terrorist act.
