Ukrainian Institute of the Future: Almost a Quarter of Ukrainians Feel Close to Russians
OREANDA-NEWS. Ukrainians consider themselves to be much more industrious than Russians and dream of living in a country without corruption. This is evidenced by the results of a survey by the Ukrainian Institute for the Future.
The study involved five thousand people from five Ukrainian regions.
Thus, 22% of respondents feel closeness to the Russian people, while with Belarusians and Poles - 18% and 16%, respectively.
Answering the question, what is the main difference between Ukrainians and Russians, about 27% of the respondents called themselves more industrious, 22% - freedom-loving and 21% - economic.
Among other "advantages" they pointed out openness, sincerity and democracy.
In addition, the survey participants for the first time told what the "Ukrainian Dream" is. Thus, the majority of respondents would like to live in a peaceful and safe country without corruption, where they take care of pensioners and pay well for the work of citizens.
Since the collapse of the USSR, millions of Ukrainians have emigrated or left to work in Russia, Europe, and the United States. One of the main reasons for the move was the highest unemployment rate since 2013, reaching 10.5% according to official figures.
