OREANDA-NEWS Ukrainian video blogger Anatoly Shariy was detained in Spain. This was reported by the Security Service of Ukraine. The agency clarified that the detention was made possible thanks to the joint work of Ukrainian and Spanish law enforcement officers.

Recall that in Ukraine, Shariy is suspected of high treason and of committing crimes under the article «violation of equal rights of citizens depending on their race, nationality, religious beliefs, disability and other characteristics».

The blogger was put on the wanted list in February 2021. Then the country's law enforcement agencies clarified that Shariy allegedly sought to aggravate the political situation on the territory of the state and incite interethnic and interfaith hatred among fellow citizens.

In March 2022, President of Ukraine Volodymir Zelensky announced the suspension of a number of opposition parties allegedly linked to Russia for the duration of martial law in the country. In particular, the party Opposition Platform — For Life, Shariy Party, Ours, Opposition Bloc, as well as Left Opposition and others fell under restrictions.
