OREANDA-NEWS. On February 3 the portal Youm7 with reference to the state television of Syria reported that the air defense system of the Russian air base Khmeimim located in the Arab Republic shot down two unmanned aerial vehicles flying near the base.

Details of the incident have not been given. On February 2, the head of the Russian Center for Reconciliation of Opposing Sides in Syria, Major General Yury Borenkov said that the militants launched drones in the vicinity of the Khmeimim air base. According to the officer, they were launched on February 1 at about 23:00 Moscow time from the territory of the Idlib de-escalation controlled by the militants.
