Turkish Ministry of Health Denies Information about Outbreak of COVID-19 in Resorts
OREANDA-NEWS. The Ministry of Health of Turkey clarified the statement of its head on the growth of cases of infection with the coronavirus of a new type after the opening of the borders of the country. The agency explained that new infected are mainly registered in large cities, and not in resorts.
“There is no outbreak of coronavirus in resort areas, there are no problems there. We record an increase in the number of cases in large cities: Ankara, Istanbul, Konya, Diyarbakir, Gaziantep,” a representative of the Turkish Ministry told the Russian news agency RIA Novosti.
Earlier, Turkish Health Minister Fahrettin Koca warned of an increase in the number of cases in the country. He added that the celebration of the Muslim holiday Eid al-Adha (July 31 – August 3) could cause serious epidemiological consequences.
According to the latest data, 236 thousand infected people were identified in Turkey. 5,784 patients died. Since the end of July, there has been a growth in the daily increase in new cases. Over the last day, more than 1 thousand new infected people have been registered in the country.
