Turkish Foreign Ministry Commented on the Verdict for the Persons Accused of Killing Khashoggi
OREANDA-NEWS. The Turkish Foreign Ministry declared that the verdict issued by a court in Saudi Arabia for the persons accused in the murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi did not meet the expectations of Ankara and the international community. Earlier, five defendants were sentenced to death penalty.
“The decision of the Saudi Arabian court, announced today, does not meet either the expectations of our country or the expectations of the international community,” Hami Aksoy, the official spokesman for the Ministry, stated.
The representative of Turkish authority noted that the investigation did not reveal the motives of the organizers of the murder and the identity of their possible local accomplices. In addition, he reminded that the body of the journalist had not yet been found.
At the same time, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkey expressed hope for cooperation with Saudi Arabia in the framework of further litigation.
