Turkish Authorities May Close the Borders for Tourists in the Near Future
OREANDA-NEWS. The Turkish government is considering limiting international travel due to the increase in the number of people infected with COVID-19, the country may be closed to tourists in November or December. This was reported on October 27 by the newspaper Hurriyet.
According to the publications, Ankara has begun to develop new measures for local residents and travelers, which they plan to introduce in November and December. The restrictions will affect primarily large tourist centers, as well as Istanbul. It is planned to limit events with large number of participants and to introduce a curfew on weekends. In addition, the authorities are discussing proposals to impose restrictions on long-distance and international travel as a means to curb the spread of coronavirus infection.
The introduction of new measures will be discussed at a meeting of the scientific council of the Turkish Ministry of Health, which is to be held on October 28.
