OREANDA-NEWS  New talks on Syria within the framework of the Astana format with the participation of Russia, Turkey and Iran will be held on December 6 in Doha, the capital of Qatar. This is reported by the newspaper Hürriyet, which is close to the Turkish government, citing sources.

"Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov called for an urgent resumption of the Astana process. When a similar request was received from Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi, preparations began for the Astana format meeting to be held this Friday in Doha," the publication notes.

At the same time, the authors of the material, citing sources, clarify that Syrian President Bashar al-Assad did not transmit any messages to Turkish leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan. In this regard, the issue of a specific subject of negotiations is open.

Earlier, the Hürriyet newspaper reported that Assad is trying to find contacts with Erdogan against the background of the advance of militants inside the country and the aggravation of the situation, since the offensive of terrorist groups in Aleppo and the aggravation of the situation in Syria may be an instrument of pressure from Ankara.
