Trudeau Announced the Second Wave of Coronavirus Pandemic in Canada
OREANDA-NEWS. On September 23, Prime Minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau, in his special address to the nation warned of the arrival of a second wave of coronavirus infection. According to him, it could become worse than the first.
“In our four biggest provinces [British Columbia, Alberta, Ontario and Quebec. – Ed.], the second wave isn’t just starting, it’s already underway. We’re on the brink of a fall that could be much worse than the spring,” the politician said on the air of the television channel CTV News. According to the Prime Minister, in March, 47 new cases of infection per day were recorded, and on September 22 this figure had increased to more than 1 thousand.
Trudeau noted that there is still an opportunity to “get this second wave under control.” To do this, all Canadians should wear masks, maintain social distance and get flu vaccines. The head of the government stressed that the traditional widespread celebration of Thanksgiving Day, which is celebrated in October, is unlikely, but “we still have a shot at Christmas,” he added.
