Three Syrian Soldiers Were Killed During Terrorist Attacks in Idlib
OREANDA-NEWS. In the Governorate of Idlib, three Syrian soldiers died and 20 were injured in repulsing a terrorist attack. This was reported on the official website of the Russian Centre for the Reconciliation of Opposing Sides in the Syrian Arab Republic.
According to the report, on December 17, militants of the terrorist organization Hayat Tahrir al-Sham banned in Russia and the Syrian National Army fired on Syrian troops in Idlib Governorate with two tanks and an infantry fighting vehicle. Syrian soldiers managed to repel the attack of terrorists and destroy military equipment.
In addition, in Aleppo Governorate, terrorists in five vehicles with heavy machine guns tried to break through the positions of Syrian troops from the territory of the Idlib de-escalation zone. This attack was also repelled. During the operation five Syrian soldiers were injured.
The head of the Centre for the Reconciliation, Yury Borenkov, reported that the leaders of the armed groups are planning new attacks on the positions of the Syrian army. “Russian intelligence has identified the transfer of about 300 members of the Syrian National Army, 20 pickups with large-caliber guns and 7 armored vehicles from the Afrin region of Aleppo Governorate to the Idlib de-escalation zone,” the officer said.
On December 12, the Russian military announced the preparation of a joint provocation of Syrian militants and the White Helmets organization in Idlib. It was noted that terrorists plan to feign the use of poisonous substances in order to disseminate this information on the Internet and accuse the Syrian government of using chemical weapons against civilian residents.
