OREANDA-NEWS The office of the Commissioner for Children's Rights under the President of the Russian Federation, Maria Lvova-Belova, is working to return another group of children from Syria to Russia, they are expected to arrive home by the end of 2024.
"In the coming days, we are preparing another trip to Damascus... to refugee camps. There is now an agreement on another group of children, which we plan to return to their homeland. All these children will undergo a medical examination and then further social rehabilitation on the territory of one of the boarding schools in Moscow," the children's Ombudsman told reporters in Novosibirsk on Wednesday.
She explained that this is planned to be done by the end of 2024.
Earlier, Lvova-Belova reported that over the past three years, with the assistance of the office of the Children's Ombudsman, 566 children from Syria, Iraq, Pakistan and Turkey have been returned to Russia. The Children's Ombudsman noted that the institution of the Commissioner for Children's Rights focuses not so much on the return as on the rehabilitation and socialization of these children.
The All-Russian Forum on the Prevention of social orphanhood "Living and being raised in a family" started in Novosibirsk on Wednesday, within the framework of which the XXIII All-Russian Congress of Commissioners for Children's Rights in the subjects of the Russian Federation is taking place.
