OREANDA-NEWS  There is a shortage of garbage trucks in 16 regions of Russia, the press service of the Russian Environmental Operator (REO) reported.

In total, 16 Russian regions lack from 16 to 78 percent of garbage trucks from the total amount of necessary equipment. The most difficult situation is in Tuva (78 percent), Ingushetia (60.4 percent) and Dagestan (47.1 percent).

Shortages were also encountered in the Jewish Autonomous Region (46.8 percent), the Altai Republic (36.8 percent), the Luhansk People's Republic (35.3 percent), the Kamchatka Territory (27.5 percent), the Primorsky Territory (25.8 percent), Karachay-Cherkessia (25.5 percent), the Tver Region (23.9 percent), the Donetsk People's Republic (22.7 percent), Irkutsk region (19.1 percent), Mordovia (17.3 percent), Zaporizhia (16.9 percent), Ryazan (16.2 percent) and Kherson (16 percent) regions.

The REO is already developing measures that will help eliminate the deficit, the operator's press service said.

By the end of 2023, the Moscow Agglomeration became the leader among Russian regions in terms of the total mass of municipal solid waste (MSW) produced — it accounted for 19.9 percent of all garbage produced in the country during this period. The second region was Krasnodar Territory with a share of 5.1 percent of the total volume of MSW. St. Petersburg closed the top three (3.4 percent).
