There are more women in the Russian labor market

OREANDA-NEWS The demographic situation and the military conflict in Ukraine "are defeating gender and age discrimination faster than all legislative efforts combined," Izvestia quotes SuperJob service specialists. Due to the shortage of labor in the Russian labor market, there are more women - in some professions, the proportion of female applicants has increased by 5-6 percentage points in nine months.
Basically, such dynamics concerns specialties that are not related to hard physical labor, for example, software testing specialists, sales managers, couriers and pickers.
In addition, SuperJob noted an increase in the average age of male applicants in almost all industries. In particular, system administrators, engineers of instrumentation and equipment and mechanics "aged" by three years, security guards, milling workers, power engineers, electricians, carpenters and operators of numerical control machines (CNC) — by two years.
Analysts attribute these changes to a decrease in the number of applicants younger than 45 years, as well as the reluctance of men of military age to change jobs, including due to the presence of a delay from mobilization and the stability of the enterprise.
The average age of applicants for vacancies showed the opposite dynamics only in the IT industry - programmers "got younger" from 38 to 37 years due to an increase in the share of applicants up to 24 years. IT companies also began to look more often for programmers from the regions for remote work, representatives of the service said. Now, in the struggle for qualified specialists, firms that give a reprieve from mobilization win.
Earlier it became known that the number of vacancies for young Russians, including teenagers from 14 years old, has soared more than one and a half times in Russia. Most often, teenagers are invited to the field of customer service to positions where they can quickly get to work after a short training. For example, a quarter of the posted ads are courier vacancies.
