OREANDA-NEWS  Global warming will create huge opportunities for the development of agriculture in Russia, on which the world will depend. Alexander Kononov, a member of the Association of Futurologists and Candidate of Technical Sciences, found such advantages in climate change, writes Life.ru.

"Until now, we have been a zone of largely risky farming, but we will simply become the best breadbasket that will feed, in fact, the entire civilization. The whole world will depend on us"? — said the expert.

However, it should be understood that along with this, Russia faces great dangers. One of the main ones is the melting of permafrost, which occupies more than half of the country's territory. The degradation of permafrost will lead to subsidence of the soil, which means that buildings and other structures will cease to be durable and stable. In addition, huge amounts of the greenhouse gas methane can be released, which will greatly accelerate global warming.

Nevertheless, the futurist expressed the hope that humanity will overcome the difficult transition period and adapt to the new conditions. As a result, he predicts that Russia should also benefit from climate change.

Earlier in Russia, an increase in the number of emergencies was predicted against the background of global warming. The Ministry of Emergency Situations added that abnormally high or low temperatures are increasingly observed.
