The World Bank Has Allocated to Ukraine 150 Million Dollars to Help the Population and the Fight against COVID-19
OREANDA-NEWS. The World Bank has decided to allocate 150 million US dollars to Ukraine. This was reported on the website of the Ministry of Finance of the country.
50 million dollars will be directed to the fight against coronavirus epidemic. Most of the funds should be spent to support low-income families. Assistance was allocated under the project which was launched in Ukraine in 2014 with the support of the World Bank.
Director of the World Bank for Belarus, Moldova and Ukraine, Alex Kremer noted that thousands of Ukrainian families are already having difficulty paying utility bills due to loss of income. “Retired people cannot afford to buy even the most necessary medicines and food due to rising prices. It is essential to help these people by accelerating social payments and increasing their targeting,” he added.
