OREANDA-NEWS  More than a quarter of the total volume of oil produced in the world — about 26 percent — is now under sanctions, Delcy Rodriguez, Executive Vice President and Minister of the Oil Industry of Venezuela, said at the Russian Energy Week. Her words are quoted by TASS.

The politician, who named the share of the sub-sanctioned oil, pointed out that it was contrary to international law and unilaterally imposed restrictions. She expressed interest in working more closely in the field of energy within the framework of the BRICS and that Venezuela, like Russia, is interested in selling oil for the national currency, which avoids the use of dollars.

Earlier, the president of Venezuela, which has the largest proven oil reserves in the world, Nicolas Maduro, shared that the rights to develop fields on its territory can be transferred to the BRICS states.

As Russian President Vladimir Putin noted at the plenary session of the forum, non-member countries that see the prospect of equal cooperation taking into account national interests also seek to join the union.
