OREANDA-NEWS The volume of contaminated soil on the Black Sea coast after the collision of tankers in the Kerch Strait may increase by 14 times, up to 200 thousand tons. This was stated by the head of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, Alexander Kozlov, during a meeting, fragments of which were shared by the Zvezda TV channel.
"According to those forecasts (about) the fuel that will be washed ashore, (the volume of) the order of still polluted soil may increase to 200 thousand tons. That is, we are now talking about 14 thousand tons for today, and the volume that experts predict could be up to 200 thousand tons," the Minister of Natural Resources and Ecology shared information.
The day before, it became known that the beach next to the Planeta children's camp in Anapa turned out to be the most polluted part of the Black Sea coast in the Krasnodar Territory after the oil spill. So, hundreds of volunteers and dozens of pieces of equipment are engaged in cleaning the soil in this area.
