OREANDA-NEWS  The international conference of the Valdai discussion club has begun in Jakarta, RIA Novosti correspondent reports.

The opening ceremony, held at the Borobudur Hotel, was attended by Indonesian dancers, and representatives of Russia and Indonesia made welcoming remarks.

"We have to draw a path to the future. And we have to see him, because unfortunately we live playing a dangerous game.… But we have to overcome these problems. We must make this future together.... But first we must discuss and understand what we should do," said Andrey Bystritsky, Chairman of the Board of the Foundation for the Development and Support of the Valdai International Discussion Club, at the opening of the conference.

Indonesia is the largest ASEAN country and one of Russia's key partners in Southeast Asia. Confirmation of the growing level of Russian-Indonesian relations was the official visit to Moscow on July 31 by the elected President and acting Minister of Defense of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto, who noted that over the past four years he had visited the Russian capital four times.
